The station is owned by Lotus Communications, and it has a colorful history as the radio voice of Warner Bros. It refers to a popular Spanish-language radio station in the United States.
La Mera Mera 980 (KFWB) actually focuses on a mix of regional Mexican music, live entertainment programs, news and sports with a focus on the Hispanic community. KEWB first signed on the air March 3, 1925, initially on the frequency of 950 kHz, and was started by Sam Warner, a co-founder of Warner Bros. On March 11, 1968, this radio station ended its Top 40 era, and was relaunched as an all-news radio station. On October 31, 2016, it switched to a regional Mexican music format as "La Mera Mera 980."
