Kool AM, also known as WTVL (1490 kHz, “Kool AM 1490”), is a United States-based adult standards-format commercial internet radio station licensed to serve Waterville, Maine, and Kennebec County, that broadcasts softer hits from the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. It featured the music of Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Nat King Cole, and Dionne Warwick in its playlist. WTVL first signed on June 19, 1946, as an ABC network affiliate owned by Kennebec Broadcasting Company. The station was owned by Townsquare Media; its studios and offices were on Western Avenue in Augusta. Over the years, this radio station underwent several format changes, including middle of the road, adult contemporary, nostalgia, and oldies.
