WKAR NewsTalk (870 kHz/AM) is a United States-based news/talk format non-commercial public AM radio station licensed to the trustees of Michigan State University (MSU) at East Lansing, Michigan, that is affiliated with National Public Radio (NPR), American Public Media, Public Radio Exchange, and BBC World Service. The station broadcasts news programming and is known for its comprehensive coverage of local, national, and international events. It is part of MSU’s Broadcasting Services Division, along with WKAR-FM and WKAR-TV. WKAR is a Class D daytimer radio station, meaning it is only authorized to broadcast during daylight hours. This radio station also features two hours of Spanish-language news and talk on weekday afternoons.
