About WBRU
WBRU is a popular indie-format online radio station based in the bustling city of Providence, Rhode Island, United States, and the station’s program does not conform to one specific format. The station is owned and operated by Brown Broadcasting Service, an independent non-profit organization, and is primarily staffed by students from Brown University.
WBRU broadcasts two online streams with different programming: indie and alternative on WBRU and an urban contemporary format on WBRU360, named after its long-time Sunday program, The 360° Experience in Sound. The station has been broadcasting since 1965 and continues to be a favorite among locals for its unique blend of music and engaging content. It's artist interviews and Op-Ed articles, live sessions, 360°, and Indie/Alt streams that bring the music-enamored closer to the artists they know and love and those they don’t yet know they love. This radio station is known for supporting local musicians and providing a platform for up-and-coming artists to showcase their talents.
