Roots Radio

Roots Radio, also known as WMOT (89.5 FM), is a United States-based public radio station licensed to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, that broadcasts to Nashville and surrounding areas, playing a wide range of Americana and roots music, including country, folk, blues, and bluegrass. It is owned by Middle Tennessee State University alongside WMTS-FM (88.3 FM). Originally a student-run station featuring pop and rock music, WMOT transitioned to a full-time jazz format in 1982. This radio station focuses on the diverse sounds of Americana, a genre that encompasses various roots-based musical styles. Its Americana programming encompasses a diverse mix of classic country, bluegrass, folk, soul, R&B, and old-school rock ‘n’ roll, reflecting Nashville’s rich musical heritage.
