KNTU FM 88.1, also known as “The One,” is a United States-based radio station licensed to the University of North Texas and is on the air 24 hours, every day of the year. The signal of the station covers much of the Dallas and Fort Worth Metroplex in North Texas, with a format of news and primarily jazz music. The station also produces the UNT football and men’s basketball broadcast feeds for the Mean Green Sports Network.
KNTU FM 88.1 (The One) is dedicated to bringing its listeners the latest and greatest in jazz music from both up-and-coming artists and established legends of the genre. The station also broadcasts, on Friday, hourly newscasts from NBC Radio, and a special syndicated weekend program called Musical Starstreams. KNTU was founded in 1969 in part by Bill Mercer, former voice of the Dallas Cowboys, North Texas Mean Green, and a member of the Texas Radio Hall of Fame. The station's purpose is to serve the public interest with news and entertainment programming, provide news and information of community interest about the University of North Texas, and provide an industry-standards environment in which students learn about radio broadcasting.
