Heartland Public Radio (HPR) is a commercial-free, listener-supported radio station, and it was originally launched as a commercial Internet radio station in February 2004. Its first two live channels, HPR 1 and HPR 2, represent the first two generations of classic country music. HPR 1 plays a variety of classic country music from the 1940s to the present day, including artists such as Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, and George Jones. On January 1, 2008, a third channel of non-commercial programming was launched, HPR3: The Bluegrass Channel. HPR 1 also features interviews with country music artists, as well as news and information about the country music industry.
