Freedom 97.9

Freedom 97.9, also known as KBXB (97.9 FM), is a United States-based classic country music format radio station licensed to serve Sikeston, Missouri, that primarily plays classic country music, highlighting the genre’s well-known artists and favorites from past decades. It is owned by Withers Broadcasting and licensed to Withers Broadcasting Company of Southeast Missouri, LLC. The station pivoted to its “Freedom 97.9” branding in May 2022, shifting its focus to classic country hits from the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. It also features local on-air talent and syndicated programming and serves as a broadcaster for some sports content, such as St. Louis Cardinals baseball. KBXB serves Sikeston and Southeast Missouri, Southern Illinois, Western Kentucky, extreme Northwestern Tennessee, and extreme Northeastern Arkansas.
