EBC Radio offers a unique blend of programming in English and other South Asian languages, courtesy of a team of RJ’s that cater to all South Asian ethnicities. The station was signed on December 23, 1971, as WBRW, a middle of the road-formatted station owned by the Somerset Valley Broadcasting Corporation and licensed to Somerville, New Jersey. Connecting the South Asian community in the US with its culture and tradition is the station's main objective. The station subsequently shifted to an adult contemporary format and was later relicensed to Bridgewater. It is now the most widely heard South Asian radio station in New Jersey, New York, and Eastern Pennsylvania that has grown exponentially over the years. Along with news and information on the South Asian community, the station also offers its listener's the opportunity to participate in local events and activities. This radio station is the only commercial radio in the tri-state area on open frequency, which is also rated by Arbitron. In 2004, the station shifted to a classic oldies format, emphasizing pre-1964 music. The stations have loyal listeners who tune in daily to hear everything from the latest in Bollywood music to throwbacks from the past. This station's mission is to bring its listeners together and back to their motherland roots each and every day.
