The station is owned by Lotus Communications and broadcasts ethnic Iranian programming. The station’s program provides news and commentary on current events in Iran and the United States.
670AM KIRN was first licensed in 1984 as KWNK, and it was originally owned by Manuel A. Cabranes/Valley Radio LLC. KWNK started as a top 40 station as "Top Hits 67 K-Wink," with music from such prominent 1980s artists as Prince and Duran Duran. The station changed its call sign to KIRN in 1996. The XETRA-AM simulcast ended in 2001 when KIRN began airing brokered-time programs for a brief period, after which the station became "Radio Iran." The station broadcasts 24 hours a day, and its programming includes news, talk, and entertainment shows. It also broadcasts live sports coverage, including soccer and basketball games.
