107.5 WBLS is a United States-based urban adult contemporary formatted FM radio station licensed to New York City that plays a mix of current and old R&B, soul, and hip-hop genre music. The station is currently owned by Mediaco Holding and operated by Emmis Communications under a shared services agreement, along with sister stations WLIB (1190 AM) and WQHT (97.1 FM).
107.5 WBLS has been America’s most recognizable black radio station, laying the foundation for feel-good crossover tunes and a sincere dedication to community outreach. The station was previously owned by YMF Media LLC, owned jointly by investor Ronald Burkle and Magic Johnson. In addition to music, WBLS also features talk shows focused on local news, events, and happenings in the NYC area. The station was shortly reverted to urban contemporary, only to exit again in 2004, when it switched to urban adult contemporary.
