The goal of volunteer-run, nonprofit 103.3 Asheville FM is to reflect and contribute to the vibrant mix of local involvement, the arts, and culture. With freeform programming, the station plays a wide range of musical genres, such as rock, jazz, blues, and folk. The station is supported by donations from the public, twice-yearly fund-raisers, and underwriting. Listeners want to hear music, news, and the unusual, all produced right on this radio station in their neck of the woods. Talk shows that run the gamut from politics to poetry and the most eclectic freeform mix of music that listeners can hear by DJs with a scholarly appreciation for the genres they represent. Asheville Community Radio, a non-profit organization, owns and operates the station, and it is committed to providing underrepresented voices in the community with a platform. The station actually offers a variety of programming, including music shows, talk shows (including a local news show), and two Spanish-language shows. The station keeps Asheville thriving by producing diverse and eclectic programming that inspires its listeners to build connections across its communities and discover new music and ideas.
